Join Elizabeth Mildwater, Secretary of the newly
created Department of Creative Industry, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport as she
outlines her role in stewarding the state’s first arts, culture and creative
industries policy and the new partnership opportunities between industry and
government driving the NSW visitor economy.
The newly created Department of Creative Industry, Tourism,
Hospitality, and Sport, launching on 1 July 2024, will steward the state’s first
arts, culture and creative industries policy and underpin a vibrant cities
agenda. Incorporating Venues NSW, the NSW Institute of Sport, and the Office of
Sport, the department will cement Sydney and NSW as the premier destination of
the Asia Pacific.
With the aim to empower creative industries, unlock night-time economies, and focus on experience tourism, the new department's coordinated activities will bring economic, social, and cultural benefits across the state, drive greater employment across a range of sectors, and support wider economic activity across a greater proportion of the day.
